The picture you posted is NOT the storefront of Wlater D. Moses Music Company which was a red brick three story building on Board Street and never had aqua trim on it?
My grandfather purchased Walter D. Moses from Mr. Moses just after The Panic of 1893. He operated the store until his death when two of his sons took over the business.
You need to update your graphic as the one you show is not of the store itself.
Dear Ms. Sarvay, Thanks for this updated information. I am from Newport News and have many relatives living in Richmond. I find this all very fascinating.
I own a piano that was sold or made (I don’t know which) by Walter D. Moses. I have been told there is a replica of this piano at the Dwight Eisenhower home in Gettysburg PA. I am actually trying to find out its origin and history. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I would also like to hear more about your family i.e. your grandfather and Theh Panic of 1893.
Here’s hoping you get this. Thanks for your time.
